Migrate much?
OK, something I just found out is really irritating me. Lucky you to have stopped by!
It is well-known Microsoft and Nokia have teamed up to deploy their vision of smartphones on to the world. Excellent, I love both companies and wish them well! To take it a step further, I will be buying the Nokia Lumia 920 when they finally release it to the public. Can’t wait!
I have supported Windows Phone since they came out. The planets aligned perfectly, and when my two year contract with AT&T expired Windows Phone 7 was just being released. I went for it, loved it WAY MORE than my previous phone (iPhone 3GS), and have been waiting for the apps to get really good ever since. That’s been a wait….for sure….but the phone works really well. Kudos to Samsung for that.
But my success often comes when others struggle, so I started thinking about WHY the Windows Phone hasn’t taken off. First, I fully realize some people are just happy with what they’ve got. If there’s no reason to change, why change? That’s people exercising their rights as individuals. It’s comfortable to stay the same, why change? And second, change can be scary. Confusing even. I don’t know HOW to do this, so I don’t. I’d like to upgrade but I don’t know how.
My wife tells me she is “bored” with her iPhone, and you know what? I totally get it. That made me ask “Why don’t you switch?” Her answer, “I don’t want to lose my texts or contacts.”
And I couldn’t really help. Oh sure, I can totally rip into iTunes on her laptop and extract pictures, videos, and music. That’s easy. It’s the txts and apps….what about the apps? Bother.
And then I found a site called markspace.com. They have a software solution for that exact problem. It is called “Welcome Home to Windows Phone” and the software is free for Nokia customers! And, it works on PC or Mac. AND, it matches up your existing apps with a comparable Windows Phone apps.
Check it out!
